String is very interesting stuff. You may or may not know that you can't use just any kind of string for lure coursing. All lure coursing fun runs and competition events use it, which is why we offer both the small size for our Lure Babies and the larger size for the big machines out there in the competitive world.
You may have seen the typical white stuff on the field at ASFA or AKC events. But it is definitely not all alike: some string has more stretch to it than others. We wanted to offer ours in colors (keeping with our basic premise that lure coursing should be fun), but adding color degrades the tensil strength of the string (it breaks a lot) and also makes it bigger so the lure tips can't be threaded. Sooo, for now we can only offer white!
Our string is the finest competitive polyester braided Dacron available. No stretch, durable, and it comes on a 1,000 foot spool.

STRING LEVELER MECHANISM
Because we constantly strive to make our product the best on the market, we have finally perfected a mechanism to prevent backlash on the Lure Baby drag lure. Backlash is inherent in a wide-spool setup. This is our own design and will keep the string winding evenly onto the spool as it comes in. As of February 7, 2011, all Lure Babies, both Standard and Custom, are equipped with this device.
RETROFIT YOUR LURE BABY CUSTOM! If you have a second-gen Lure Baby Custom (black box) that does not have one of these time-and-aggravation-saving devices, you can order one from our store and you'll be able to just plug it into your existing machine. NOTE: WE CAN ONLY RETROFIT THE CUSTOMS, NOT THE OLDER STANDARDS - SORRY!!
